the palm is not the sun; ishtar
06’ 31” single-channel video and audio (on loop), grey front/rear screen
Projected on two sides of a screen and suspended above eye level is the crown of a palm tree silhouetted against a sun-setting sky as an airplane moves from up to down. Simultaneously, an audio plays from the ground, with the progressively increasing sound of rain and a female voice incrementally suggesting to ‘look at the sun.’
06’ 31” single-channel video projected onto wall
Shot with a macro lens, the camera shifts from an intimate view of a reed swaying to the distant horizon. The image dissolves, foreground to background and top to bottom.
00’ 37” single-channel video, mirrors, acrylic paint
A landscape is projected over multiple mirrors masked by perforated grey paint. Mirrors reflect while paint absorb the image, creating different scenarios depending on the observer’s position.
